Stearic acid is a saturated long-chain fatty acid with a straight-chain structure consisting of 18 carbon atoms, with the chemical formula C17H35COOH (C18H36O2). It is widely found in nature, especially in animal fats and certain vegetable oils. Stearic acid presents a white solid form at room temperature, colorless and odorless, with low water solubility and high solubility in organic solvents.
